    Hey everyone,
I’m wigginman. I’m a Cardinal, and I work at a Boy Scout camp during the summer (no jokes will be tolerated about this), so I can rarely get on. I do get on MCNSA when I’m home, but that is somewhat rare during the summer. I love MCNSA, but my job comes first. When I make a full return, it will be posted on the forums, and I will notify everyone in-game. If you are new to the server, then welcome, and if you miss me, then I miss you too. Gratz to everyone who’s been promoted.
I love you all, and I’m looking forward to my return,
    wigginman

Thanks Judge, I’ve been here before!

Nadar, I will tolerate good-humored jokes, but not those that attempt to truly slander the Boy Scouts of America.

slander: A false or defamatory report

Using this definition it is logically impossible for anyone to slander himself or any organization to slander itself.

Am I the only person who envisions Wiggin as an earwig?

    No, it’s completely possible.

Organization puts out a false report that damages their reputation.

They have now just slandered themselves. It may not be very likely, but its certainly possible.

Also, I would argue that the boy scouts commitment to demanding Christanity over atheism and their over-all anti-homosexual agenda do, indeed, slander the body of work that the boy scouts has created; as there are numerous very prosperous gay kids in the boy scouts who are completely in touch with all of the boy scout ideals. “Slander” is in the eyes of the beholder, yo.

I thought boy scouts was all about wearing neckerchiefs and jumping on that big inflatable thing on the edge of a lake to make someone else fly into the air before belly-flopping.

Going from upholding strict Christian beliefs to embracing homosexuality is a big leap in any book. have an Oreo and give it time. đŸ˜‰

The BSA does not demand any religious affiliation. The scout law does say that a scout is reverent, but it does not specify what religion that scout must be affiliated with, or that a scout be at all religious, just respectful of other religions. The BSA, in fact, offers religious awards for almost every major religion.

The idea that the BSA is anti-gay is also a fallacy. In my many years in the Boy Scouts, I have never been taught that homosexuality is at all wrong. Please learn your facts before you begin to try and debate with me.

I realize that no one will give an inch on this topic, so I suggest that we perhaps give up on the debate entirely. I’d rather agree to disagree than continue disagreeing.

You should take your own advice first, wiggin. I’m an Eagle Scout. I was involved with the BSA for 22 years. The BSA is in fact an anti-gay organization; there have been boy scouts kicked out for being gay, scoutmasters kicked out for being gay, eagle scouts having their eagles taken away for being gay (on a local level, but taken away none-the-less). Less than 3 months ago someone was removed for being a den leader for being gay; a few years ago there was several scoutmasters who were removed for being gay.

There have also been numerous atheists who have been denied eagles for being atheists; and scouts have been removed from scouting for being homosexual.

The fact that BSA removes atheists, agnostics, and homosexuals does indeed mean that they do demand religious affiliation, and does point to the fact that the BSA is anti-gay. Perhaps your local council is not, but the BSA national organization? Absolutely, one hundred percent, holds a religious affiliation as well as an anti-homosexual agenda.

    Sources!

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boy_Scouts_of_America_membership_controversies

The Boy Scouts of America (BSA), one of the largest private youth organizations in the United States, has policies which prohibit atheists and agnostics from membership in its Scouting program, and prohibit “open or avowed” homosexual people from leadership roles in its Scouting program as directly violating its fundamental principles and tenets. BSA has denied or revoked membership status or leadership positions of youths and adults for violation of these foundational principles.

The BSA contends that these policies are essential in its mission to instill in young people the values of the Scout Oath and Law.[1][2]

“Boy Scouts of America believes that homosexual conduct is inconsistent with the obligations in the Scout Oath and Scout Law to be morally straight and clean in thought, word, and deed. The conduct of youth members must be in compliance with the Scout Oath and Law, and membership in Boy Scouts of America is contingent upon the willingness to accept Scouting’s values and beliefs. Most boys join Scouting when they are 10 or 11 years old. As they continue in the program, all Scouts are expected to take leadership positions. In the unlikely event that an older boy were to hold himself out as homosexual, he would not be able to continue in a youth leadership position.”[13]

As early as 1908, Scouting founder Robert Baden-Powell wrote in the first Scout handbook that, “No man is much good unless he believes in God and obeys His laws.”[5]

I have also heard enough testimony from numerous people form around the country that points to MANY councils requiring a contract stating that you are a christian in order to move onto being an Eagle; or a statement from your priest / pastor stating that you regularly visit.
